This paper presents a new proposal of classification of the pottery found at the Bronze Age site of Mursia elaborated by the research group of the University of Bologna, after several campaigns of investigation. Among the methods of evaluation and terminology for the classification of ceramics, it has been assigned more importance to production and functional use of vessels. Especially principles based on the presence of handles and on the rate between diameter and height allow to suggest ancient procedures and use of each category and consequently to aid operators in cataloguing finds. This proposal is therefore useful as reference grid for the classification of pottery from sector B of Mursia and for a comparison with other studies and investigations devoted to the Bronze Age of the Italian Peninsula and Sicily.Downloads
