The handle type “manico a nastro con estremità a rotolo” as an archaeological marker of earlier phases of Middle Bronze Age.

The paper presents the case of the type of handle “manico con estremità a rotolo” as an example of application of classification methods and distributive analysis. This type is traditionally classified as an index fossil to identify the beginnings of Middle Bronze Age of Central Italy and particularly assigned to the archaeological facies of Grotta Nuova. The illustration fo collected data suggests to evaluate the presence of morfological details and ornaments in order to identify regional versions or chronological sets.
