This paper deals with the methodology applied to the management of records from excavations; usually represented by a huge amount of finds and documents. A latter aim is to experiment the distributional analysis of the archaeological record with a GIS software package. The neolithic site of Sammardenchia represents a case study for approaching digitizing techniques of records collected in several seasons of fieldwork and to experiment distribution analysis. The result allow us to discuss about the latent structure and the function of detailed area; without evident structural features.
